According to Operation World (2010), "The world's least evangelized peoples are concentrated in India. Of 159 people groups of over 1 million people, 133 are unreached. Also 953 ethnic groups have populations greater than 10,000; of those, 205 have no church and little to no outreach from Christians. They can be found in every state although they tend to be more concentrated in the north."
One of the north Indian states is Orissa which has a population of 42 million. Orissa is the poorest state in India with 39.9% of people living below the poverty line. 85% people of Orissa live in remote villages, mostly without access to electricity and clean water. Out of this 94% are Hindus and only 2% are Christians.
Persecution of Christians remains intense. In 2007-2008, 120 Christians were murdered, hundreds of churches were destroyed and 52,000 Christians were displaced from their home in Kandhamal, a district of Orissa. This is the state that Care India has been assigned by God to evangelize and to provide support to those in need.
The Leap of Faith Anointed Ministries, Inc. has been in partnership with Care India Missions for about 3 years and now provides monthly financial support to the mission’s orphanage. In the near future we would like to sponsor at least one student for the new Care India Mission’s Bible school, Ignite Institute. This innovative school will tentatively begin their first round of classes in October 2012, and will train men and women in the Gospel of Jesus Christ and equip them with the skills they will need to minister on the mission field. Thank you for standing with us in our effort to make a difference.
